Yes, we had a room full of paper while we moved stuff back and forth. The kids acted like it was a leaf pile and had the newsprint all over them to prove it.

6 Workmen and a Little Man

My house is filled with workmen again today which makes Sean happy because that means big TV. I am just ready for the floors to be done so I can evict 4 children from my bedroom. I am getting nothing else done today because the little man is being very high maintenance. It took a lot of coaxing and bribing to get him dressed today and even more to get him outside. Beautiful day, beautiful backyard with tons for a little boy to do and explore so naturally he doesn't want to go out. Finally he had some pizza on the rock retaining wall (so safe) at 10:30, which is technically lunch time when you get up at 5:30am. Emily is making up for teething time by napping through some loud floor sanding. Apparently that closet is pretty sound proof.

All in all the kids have handled all this change pretty well. Anna is very happy at school this week according to her teacher which I think is a reflection of the fact that at least school has stayed the same. And the fact that she is star of the week and had birthday donuts yesterday. I just hope I can get the van out of the driveway to go pick them up from school, this could be interesting. Now to go find the boy who wants to play jump rope, I mean football....

Where to begin?

Oh God, the chaos. The floors aren't ready in the kid bedrooms yet so everyone is camping out in the master suite. Girls up in the loft, Emily's crib is in the closet, and Patrick is on the floor as usual. Boxes and baskets of clothes are all over the place, very disorganized. Dressers all over the house, in the dining room, in the entry way, in the library. Mattresses in the bathroom, just good times all around. I have an awful cold which is actually helpful because I can't tell how much it stinks from the floors. Not so helpful when it comes to realizing the babes need diaper changes though.

I have managed to set up one room though, the living room, so I will go drink heavily in there once I am off the cold meds. The dining room is full of decor and looks like Goodwill, which is a step up from the box stage which looked like Hoarders. The hearth room has only a table and the TV but I have ordered chairs to go with the table at least. The rest of the seating will have to wait until I find the energy to figure out what I need. Rugs? Someday. I just need to survive until Saturday when we can move the kids into their rooms. In the meantime I need to go buy Emily more clothes because not only does she have very little, but I can't find them.

To add to the chaos, today is Anna's birthday. I did convince her to let me just bring donuts for her school snack but I suppose I should come up with a cake for her party. I mean, order a cake. All my baking time will be used up for some fund raiser at school. Yes, let me find an afternoon to do that... The kitchen is unpacked at least, this is possible. With the help of a lot of caffeine and some more cold meds. Sean has a 4 day weekend so hopefully we will get a ton done then, including finish cleaning the old house. I spent 10 hours doing that on Saturday, you'd think that I hadn't cleaned in four years.... Photos later, can't find the cords.

David Blaine Moment

I have been tearing this place apart looking for the roll of packing tape that I know I saw the girls playing with yesterday. Just when I had finally given up I went to take the clothes out of the dryer and it falls out. Why the face?! David Blaine must have had it in his lounging pants pocket and forgotten to mention it when I asked him on the phone earlier. Nice and clean. I may have to waste the afternoon searching for the fake David Blaine clip with the very dramatic gay guys because we are having just that sort of day here. And clearly I have nothing else I should be doing...

First of all, I just have to say once again how I am not a fan of Halloween because Patrick has been up since 2am either due to eating candy or because he wants more candy. He is currently banging his door in time-out because he has been having melt downs and clearly needs a nap. This had better turn into a nap because I am seriously considering a hard cider and it is only 10:42am. Wow, some sort of record there. Sean is actually happy to be at work, even a boring meeting is preferable to this hell.

We did manage to keep them all under control when we went to sign the mortgage papers this morning. The bank is so incredibly fun that I am wondering if we could host a birthday party there. Basketball shooting game, popcorn machine (yes, the kids were thrilled to have that for breakfast, meanwhile I wanted to throw up just smelling it), movies, games, toys, etc. Everything is all taken care of though and I wrote the check for the down payment while muttering, "Where does everyone think Gloria gets her money?", which is from the Hawaii episode of Modern Family. Yes, this house is on me. I got it. Now, I am the one doing the painting and moving the boxes, just not today. Today is all about laundry and four kids at home with no sitter. Nana arrives tonight, unless her flight is mysteriously cancelled after she reads this post. Can't wait to see her and her bag of tricks to keep the kids entertained! Wine is waiting!
