Phew, Close Call

Well, when I heard that McCain was on the hunt for a VP I had no idea he was using the old method of pulling a name from a big barrel of registered voters. Can you imagine if he'd pulled out your name?! Seriously, the traffic in DC sucks and the housing is so expensive. I would enjoy having Dennis as my personal Secret Service agent though, that man can drive like a (insert Nascar person name, I don't know any).

200th Consecutive Sold-Out Game

Just getting ready to send the ND tickets to my parents and I noticed that the picture art on it says that it's the 200th consecutive sold-out game, 1974-2008. Yes, they have sold every ticket since Sean and I were born. I doubt Weis can screw that up (he can try!) as clearly people go to the games for the whole campus experience and not the offense. Should that be in quotes? I mean, usually the "offense" scores points, right? I mean on other football teams, clearly not ND's. There is a lot of talk about delusional ND fans but these alums remember well the BC game after being #1 for one week our sophomore year. We can play up or down to any level... that being said, enjoy the game, Mom and Dad, I'm sure San Diego State will make it a real nail biter!

It's my Nightrays Nanny! Patrick has been super fussy at night lately and Sean calmed him down while working a shift. Surely he can handle all 3 while I go to a girls' night out tonight!

Register of Deeds

Well, I am not doing a good job on reporting the pressing matters of Manhattan these days. How could I forget to update you all on the most important election of the year: Register of Deeds. That's right, I have yet to see a sign for the presidential campaign, but the town is flooded with signage for the Register of Deeds. First of all, this is an elected position?? Not some (insert polite way of saying lazy) government service job? And secondly, what sort of kick downs does that register get?? I mean really, to spend all that time at Kinko's getting your sign right, there must be a great reward.

I googled this to find out what exactly the register does and I did learn that all the records are kept in some salt mines right here in Kansas, so they will be safe from natural disaster. I also learned that the negatives for the Wizard of Oz AND Doogie Howser MD are kept there. Rest easy America, the hilarious antics of Doogie, Vinnie, and Wanda will live on for many many years. So perhaps the kick down is that the register has access to the salt mine storage place? Is this all an evil plot to destroy Doogie?? Or is it to destroy the scariest movie ever, flying monkeys and all!! Yeah, I need to find out which candidate plans to destroy which negatives before I vote.

Morning Quiz

So let's say you are going to work in the morning in this car, what should you do after opening the garage door? Should you, oh I don't know, move something? Is something in the way? I won't say who has failed to notice this or how many times this has happened, but I will say that someone doesn't always get enough sleep. And before you wonder why it is there to begin with, let me explain something about small children and getting bikes out of the garage. Trust me, Sean does not want them dragging them out next to his car. Anna even asked me the other day if it was okay if she scratched up the van with her bike since it was "really, really old". Oh really, wait until she sees how old it is when she drives it herself in 11 years. We got it just before she was born and we have one payment to go, whoo-hoo! We'll never be cool but we'll console ourselves with all that extra cash.
